Miss Meredith

Owner/Director and Certified Montessori Teacher

Miss Meredith started working at Spokane Montessori as an assistant in 1995 while attending high school. Even as a teenager she was amazed at the ability and interest that children had where learning was concerned. Four year olds were adding, reading and focused intensely on academic activities. She was in awe of the desire that children had to develop skills that seemed far beyond their years and a love of learning that could last them a lifetime!

She completed her Montessori Institute of America teacher training in 1997 and graduated from Whitworth College in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Literature. Since then she has worked at Spokane Montessori as a Lead Teacher, Program Supervisor and Director only to purchase the school in September 2011. In 2014 she completed her Child Development Associate Credential and in 2016 she completed her Master of Education with a Montessori emphasis through William Howard Taft University. Later in 2016, she completed her children’s yoga teacher certificate and continues to enjoy bringing her passion for the process to her school community through movement.

She is the mother of two children who both attend Eastern Washington University. She spends her spare minutes reading, walking, practicing yoga, spending time with friends, enjoying the beautiful city we live in and traveling with her family.

Miss Erin

Montessori Intern

Miss Erin grew up in the rural Midwest, has her bachelors in English Literature and Creative Writing, and her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with an emphasis on Children’s Literature. She taught writing, research, children’s literature, developmental reading, and study skills for thirteen years at Texas State University and then Spokane Falls Community College.

She’s the author of two story collections and a novel. For the past four years, she has taught children’s recreational tennis (ages 5-14) with the United States Tennis Association. In her spare time, she runs, swims, and bikes, co-hosts a radio show on KYRS, and leads the monthly Fuse Book Club.

Miss Erin is thrilled to be in the art room! She grew up believing she’d be an artist (as did everyone), as her father was a painter, sculptor, and photographer, and she spent all spare time split between books and art. Her son Henry began attending this school when he was 2.5.

She is currently taking her Montessori Teacher training through the North American Montessori Center. She appreciates Maria Montessori, her method, and the opportunity to play an active role in this vibrant community of wonderful, astute women and your ever-thinking and ever-joyful children.
